Introduction

Art & Design students can connect to the Art & Design Server network file share FileStorage from any Mac by following these steps.

This includes connecting from A&D lab computers and student owned machines, while connected to Cal Poly wired or wireless networks.

Users can connect with both popular sharing protocols:

• AFP (Mac)

• SMB (Windows and Mac)

Both work fine. If you don't select a protocol, it will be added automatically when you first connect.

  1. Verify that your personal Mac is connected to the Cal Poly wireless network: SecureMustangWireless
    • Verify that your personal Mac is connected to the Cal Poly wireless network: SecureMustangWireless

    • Right click (or Control + Click) on the Finder icon in the Dock.

    • Select: Connect to Server...

  2. In the Connect to Server window, enter the following:  129.65.38.38
    • In the Connect to Server window, enter the following: 129.65.38.38

    • Click the Connect button.

  3. Enter your Cal Poly portal user name and password.
    • Enter your Cal Poly portal user name and password.

    • Click the Connect button.

    • You should now be connected to the FileStorage shared network drive.

  4. If the connection fails,  verify: Your computer is connected to the Cal Poly network
    • If the connection fails, verify:

    • Your computer is connected to the Cal Poly network

    • The server IP addess prefix is ether: afp:// or smb://

    • The Server Address will remain in the server connection field, unless you delete or edit it.

    • To save it to the Favorite Servers area, click the + button at the log in window. This allows you to save it, and connect to a different server.
